Thanks to everyone who came to our Christmas Disco in the Town Hall last Saturday, in aid of three local charities: Beth’s Inspiration, Chicks and Fowey Pre-School. The Korev and Betty Stogs (and vodka) went down particularly well on the night and we’d first like to thank once again St Austell Brewey and Skinners Brewery for their very kind donation of those particular brews.
The Raffle was also very popular, given the high quality of prizes on offer. Our gratitude for these goes to:
- Cornish Orchards
- Fowey Hall Hotel
- Lazy Jacks Kitchen & Lifebouy Cafe
- The Lugger & King of Prussia
- Old Quay House Hotel
- Sharp’s Brewery
- Skinners Brewery
- South Torfrey Farm
- Trenython Manor
- Westons Cider
A number of volunteers came forward with invaluable help, and we’d like to thank Top Shop and The Galleon (ticket pre-sales), Spike from Top Shop (loan of heater for the punch), Phill Chatwin & James Horrocks (DJing and setting up), Pat & Mick (running the bar), Nikki from The Ship and Carol from The Lugger (who both loaned vodka, since our litre went within minutes), Scott from/and Sam’s, who kindly loaned us the sound equipment, and Gary from Treesmill who loaned us the lights.
The only sour notes from the night were the people who stole the change tray, with pound coins and 50p’s from my cash box on the door – though they won’t have amassed a great deal, the mere act beggars belief. And the person who stole the revolving disco ball at the end of the night. It was loaned us by Sam’s – if you’d like to quietly take it back, now you’re sober, I’m sure that would be welcomed.
Back to the good news, at this festive time of year, each of those great charities receives a donation from the people of Fowey (who chose to support the event) of £235.78.
Merry Christmas from Love Fowey!
