We seem to be going into another season with some prominent empty shop fronts in Fowey again. Vacant shops are bad for business – yet the HSBC, Upton House, the old Jo Down’s Gallery and the former Bistro all stand empty. How can absentee landlords be encouraged to show more interest in the town?

That said, we’re very happy to see The Globe up and running once more under new ownership. Plus, Any Old Lights, formerly in Lazy Jacks pop-up shop, reopened as half of Tippers Treasures shop on 2nd May.
And the lure of Fowey proved too much for Dino and Angela from Art for Serious People, who came back from Italy to reopen their lovely shop and gallery
Fowey Christmas Market will now be run by Live Events South West, who have an impressive track record throughout Cornwall and beyond. Were looking forward to a new vision for this important weekend in Fowey’s calendar.
Fowey Sports Hub is still closed, affecting a great deal of residents, who use the gym, play badminton/squash or take part in classes. Sad news that Fowey Bowling Club had no choice but to close. However, what  a brilliant opportunity for the town, now that Squires Field, and the buildings on it, are coming back into Fowey Town Council’s ownership. It would be great to see a new venture for the town up there?
