We are delighted to bring you a new Love Fowey website – now with a Bulletin board where individuals can post buy and sell, lift shares or other local requests, for free.

While it’s not quite a year since we launched, this time 12 months ago we were chatting to local businesses, over coffees and pints, about how we could showcase the range of shops, eateries, accommodation, artists, attractions and services that Fowey has to offer.

Since our launch in May 2013, our membership has grown to over 85, not only in Fowey but also Polruan, Golant, Tywardreath, Par and St Blazey. We’re helped with campaigns which matter to local people – like Save Fowey Town Bus – as well as with the Fowey Christmas Market.

And this year we have plans to bring you a small Fringe festival, to coincide with the Fowey Festival, on 16-17 May. But we’ve also achieved our aim of being a one stop portal for visitors to Fowey.

Our latest Google Analytics (which lets you see who is visiting your website) tells us that even during bleak February-March we had 1,300 visitors accessing 6,000 page views. Importantly, the UK location with most visitors is London (12%), while 10% were from abroad (in order: USA, Spain, India, Australia, Brazil, Germany…) – showing that we are providing a real service for people wanting to visit the town.

Last August, in comparison, after only three months online, we had 6,500 visitors accessing 19,000 page views. We’re expecting to double those figures this summer.

Together with over 1.300 followers on Twitter, and more than 400 likes on Facebook, we can really get  the message out there about the vibrant, friendly town we are lucky enough to call home.
