Love Fowey news for March
Hope everyone enjoyed St Piran’s day – for us the day means that spring is just round the corner! As part of the celebrations, Fowey’s Safe Harbour hosted a mass rendition of Trelawny to celebrate – supported by St Austell Breweries, this took place in pubs all over Cornwall in aid of the Cornwall Community Foundation.
Several shops have been moving around town – Jo Downs has take over the old Other Place restaurant, and Any Old Lights pop-up shop is turning back into Lazy Jacks. Any Old Lights will be in new Fowey premises soon. Brown Sugar have taken over Fowey Kayak Hire and Fowey River Expeditions, to offer a full day out experience. Pinky Murphy’s is also under new ownership, so welcome to Denise!
Excited to hear about Fowey’s new Big Gig and BBQ weekend on 19th, 20th & 21st June with food & music. All the bands will be performing live on the Town Quay for free – including Hitpinch and Almost Blues – with plenty of food stalls and chef demos to choose from. It’s also Father’s Day and the summer solstice – so sure to be a weekend to remember and a great addition to Fowey’s calendar.
Many local businesses have become sponsors including Fowey Hall, Fowey Fish, Kittows and the Webb St Company – if you’d like to support this new event, or become a patron, please get in touch with Mick at Lazy Jacks on email@example.com or call 07950 205756. There’s also slots available for budding singer songwriters for the open mic on Saturday and Sunday
The tender to run the Christmas Market has also gone out, and Love Fowey will be amongst those tendering to run the market 5/6 December. It will be interesting to see what new form the market will take!
